It takes wisdom to have a good family, and it takes understanding to make it strong." - Proverbs 24:3

Dr. Appointments

The girls both had appointments today, Aubrey had her 3 year appt and Evvy had her 15 month appt a month late. This was Aubrey's first real Big Girl Appt! Nurse Diane took her to the big scale and weighed and measured her, and then had her sit on the chair instead of table where she took her blood pressure, measured her head, and pricked her finger to test her iron levels. She did great through all of it! I completely expected tears when she got her finger pricked but she was a champ! I was severely anemic while pregnant with Evelyn and had to have my iron levels checked about every two weeks and it brought me close to tears, so I was such a proud mama when she just calmly sat watching!

After Evelyn got her measurements taken we headed to our room to wait for Dr. Sally. Aubrey's iron levels came back a tad bit low, so we'll be eating more red meat but, other than that, both girls checked out fine.

Aubrey weighs 30lbs (42%) and is 36 3/4 inches tall (also 42%)

Evelyn weighs 22lbs (32 %), is 32 1/4 inches tall ( 87%), and her head circ. is 18 1/4 (56%)

Dr. Sally always says she's amazed at how good the girls are and this time was no exception.
They both always just play quietly until its their turn to be looked over and then just sit perfectly still while Dr. Sally examines them. Aubrey didn't have any shots at this appt. but Evelyn did :'( Though she handled it like a champ like always, not even a tear! Nurse Diane is always amazed by that and I really think it has to do with the fact that I stay calm and relaxed while they get shots so they don't feed off my emotions, because when both girls get shots in the same visit there is always tears. Aubrey usually gets worked up my them and in turn Evelyn gets worked up over Aubrey's response. Anyway this time I took my camera along and got some pics.

Chris's visit

Craig's brother Chris has been deployed to Iraq since and had a chance to take a little R&R time. He could've used his time to travel anywhere but he chose to use his visit was a surprise to Laurie so we headed to Palmdale to see him surprise Laurie and then have dinner with him.

Playing hide and seek with Bubba
The girls gotta a little fidgety after dinner so we took them outside to run around while everyone else finished up

Aubrey's Birthday Party

Aubrey loves Max and Ruby right now so, of course, that was the theme! For those that aren't familiar with kids cartoons, Max is a 3 year old bunny, who gets into a lot of trouble, and Ruby is his older sister. Ruby is usually a little bossy but is patient and understanding with Max. Most of the time Ruby is trying to get something done and Max just wants to have fun.

Since I couldn't find any premade supplies I had to make my own, so we went with just a few decorations. I was up almost all night the night before but she loved them, so it was definitely worth it!

We kept the party small this time, just our Parents, Siblings and Great- Grandma Rose. There were party hats, good food and, of course, CAKE!

All the partying wore Emma out, she found a nice spot to curl up after everyone left

Aubrey's Birthday

I totally cannot believe Aubrey is 3! It seems like just a few months ago we were bring our sweet little baby home from the hospital, now she's a beautiful little big girl! She tells me on a regular basis "Mommy, I'm growing up"

Craig works this weekend so her party will be next Saturday so we had a little fun last night.

Bedtime Routine

We've recently added to the girls bedtime routine, we now read the bible before they brush their teeth and then we pray together before they get in bed. Evvy still doesn't have the attention span to completely sit through either, but Aubrey does and loves it! My heart just swells with love and pride when I see her reading the bible or praying on her own, so much so that I just want to hug and squeeze her! Last night our friend Jon came over right before their bed time and I was afraid that it would make it difficult for Aubrey to settle down (she loves Jon!) but I think the swimming we did that afternoon really must have tired her out because she brought me the bible all on her own and after only 1 story, knelt down and prayed all by herself!!! I couldn't hear all of what she said because she was whispering but I did her her say "Thank you for mommy and daddy." Up until now usually she thanks God for things like her happy meal toys (she is only almost 3 :)) so I was soo surprised to her pray like that. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing her pray, though her politness also amazes me.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

So sneaky!

Yesterday at dinner time Evvy did something so funny, Aubrey got up halfway through dinner and Evvy (who had already finished all her food) reached over and grabbed Aubrey's plate, ate her eggs and then when she saw Aubrey coming back, put the plate back! Soo sneaky!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing, she is soo smart and the things she does amazes me daily.

Also Aubrey is becoming such a polite little lady. She always says "Thank you" but has recently started say "No thanks" anytime I ask her something that she that requires a no answer. Anyway last night she was having trouble sleeping and after the third time of her waking up I brought her into bed with Craig and I and asked her if she had a bad dream. She snuggled up closer and said "no thanks." It's these things that I want to remember always!
