Happy Easter!!

Our Easter was pretty simple! We went to church down in Ventura and was able to see my family. Then we came home, dyed eggs with Craig's family and had a little egg hunt for Aubrey.

Evelyn's First Photoshoot

I attempted to set up a photo shoot for Evelyn's baby announcement pictures and I even got some of Aubrey. While I wasn't totally happy with them I think they came out alright and my absolute favorite one is of both the girls! I like it so much I've already decided to get it in a 24x24 canvas for their room. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Our new little girl!

I woke up that morning around 2 and noticed that my stomach hurt, but didn’t think too much of it and went back to bed. My stomach still hurt at 6:30 when DH left for work; by 7 I realized they were contractions and started timing them- 6 minutes apart but they didn’t really hurt and figured they were probably just Braxton hicks. I decided to call DH just in case and he left work, by 8 when he got home they were 4 minutes apart but they still didn’t hurt at all and I was still able to go about making breakfast and cleaning. I finished sewing the car seat cover and we got loaded up into the car. We went to the hospital, got admitted and by the time they hooked me up to the monitor my contractions were gone and I was certain that I would be sent home. The nurse checked for dilation and I was 4cm, I was shocked!

So they got me into a room, I wasn’t given an IV or monitored, which I was SO happy about. DH broke out the laptop and we watched a couple episodes of Rome that he had downloaded, I was having contractions but they still weren’t painful and I could tell the nurses thought I was just taking up a room, so I started walking. The walking made my contractions a lot closer together and a tiny bit painful, all in my back, but it still wasn’t bad and as soon as I sat down they went away. This went on until about 2 when the nurse checked me again and said I was at 6cm. At 4pm she made me get in bed so she could monitor the contractions for a bit before my midwife, Kathy, came to check me again. Lying in bed made my back labor a LOT worse but the contractions were still 4-6 minutes apart and I joked with the nurse about going home, since I didn’t think I had made much progress.
At 5pm Kathy showed up and I told her I didn’t think much had changed and that the baby still felt pretty high. She said she could break my water but I was afraid that that would just make my contractions worse and than I’d have to deal with those for a couple more hours and I’d end up getting an epidural, which I didn’t want. So we decided she would check my progress before we made a decision, well she did and I was at 9cm! She broke my water and said I should have her in about 30 minutes and she went to get changed. The nurse went to get a birthing bar and DH chose to use the bathroom at the same time leaving me by myself and seriously as soon as the door shut behind him I felt the urge to push, so I was pushing the nurses’ button like crazy! I did not want to deliver the baby myself. Kathy, Craig and the nurse came back in and they set up a birthing bar, which I know was freaking Craig out, and as soon as I pulled my self off the bed I HAD to push, Kathy was telling me to wait so she could get her gloves on so I tried but it was no use, she was coming! I pushed once and her head came out, Kathy by that time had managed to get one glove on so I waited a second for her to get the other one on, pushed again and she was out! All while Craig stood in the corner at the head of the bed, poor thing! I know he though the baby was just going to fall out on to the bed and land on her head.
When my legs finally stopped shaking long enough to be useful I sat back down and was able to hold my precious baby girl. She was Beautiful! She was given a APAG score of 9 and needed a little bit of help clearing out some fluids but other that that she’s amazing! Craig brought Aubrey in to see Evelyn and was soo sweet with her. I already know she is going to be a great sister! Our nurses were wonderfull and Evelyn never even had to leave our room. We left the hospital the following morning and are now at home enjoying our new little girl.

Another Name?!?

We've changed our mind once again on the name but this time we will be keeping it a secret. We got some comments about the names we chose before and to avoid that this time, we just won't be telling anyone :) After thinking about the other names some more we just didn't feel like they would be a good fit. I don't like Abernathy anymore since I feel it will be shortened to Abby which is really popular now. As for Reagan, Craig decided he didn't like it anymore. This new name is one that Craig wanted for Aubrey when we were trying to name her and will be shortened to a cute nickname that Aubrey already knows how to say and just sounds soo cute coming from her. I am terrible about keeping my own secrets so this is going to be torture for me but I am definitely looking forward to introducing everyone to our new girl.

We went in for another visit, the baby was measuring right on track and her heart beat is strong. Aubrey loves to hear the heart beat, she get real quiet and stares and my belly, it's adorable! We asked Kathy about doing another ultrasound to check up on my cervix and she said we should, so I'll go back in in 3 weeks, the 17th, and hopefully everything has stayed the same. If not then I will most likely be put on bedrest :{ We need to make it to at least 30 weeks, if not further!

Names, Names, Names...

Craig and I have had a heck of a time agreeing on a name for our little girl, I think I've gone through 4 or 5 baby name books, plus searched online and have only now narrowed it down to two names! Before we even found out we were pregnant, we knew the middle name would be Faye, after my Grandmother, since Aubrey's middle name is Rose after Craig's Grandmother, but I never thought the first name would be so hard! Before we found out it was a girl we were calling her Obidiah, Ambrose and Jonah hoping that if we thought it was a boy it would be a boy (I know it doesn't work that way, but Craig only wants 2 kids and I wanted my little boy, lol) And then add our last name to the mix and it made it SO hard. A lot of names we liked didn't go with it, like Morgan, which I LOVED but didn't like the way it sounded with Morton.

So our two names are Abernathy Faye or Reagan Faye. Craig fell in love with Abernathy when he watched Death Proof and I think Abby would be cute but I also like Reagan. We have decided to wait until we actually see her before we settle on a name but she will have one of these names :) I am so happy to be close to naming her!
