It takes wisdom to have a good family, and it takes understanding to make it strong." - Proverbs 24:3

Photo of the Day

Pantry Tigers
I came into the room and this is what I found! I asked what they were doing and Evvy told me they were tigers! She then proceeded to stick her bottom out and ask where her tail was! silly girl! I really need to install those locks on the door!

Loving where we live!

Grand Junction and Palisade weren't too picturesque during the winter but spring time is a completely different story! Everything is green and blooming and the sky is a beautiful bright blue with white fluffy clouds everywhere! I've never thought of Landscape Photography to be one of my interests or strengths but it is so beautiful here you can't help but notice the scenery and for me that means the potential shots.

Even just driving down the freeway I will notice multiple shots and I find myself wanting to stop along the freeway to get those perfect shots, not a good idea with a 75+ speed limit and two kids in the car! I am particularly obsessed with MT. Garfield! It is a gorgeous peak the protrudes up into the blue sky. I know it sounds crazy but I think it is one of the most beautiful mountains I have seen and it intrigues me.

So today after going to the store the girls fell asleep in the car and I figured it was the perfect time to try to find those perfect shots from the safety of the side roads. Unfortunately being limited to side roads and seldom used over passes changes the composition of those shots but I managed to get a few, though they don't even begin to do Gods work justice!

Resurrection Rolls

Last night after church the girls and I made Resurrection Rolls to help explain the meaning of Easter to them. Since Aubrey is such a hands on learner I knew it would be a hit! There are a few different expainations that use every step to symbolize what Jesus went through but since Evvy is still kinda young I used an easier one this year.

The night before Easter you roll out bisquit dough...

Eating the dough is not required :)

Add some melted butter and Cinnimon and sugar...

"Anoint" a marshmallow (Jesus) with Butter (oil) and Cinnimon sugar (spices)...

Silly Daddy!

And wrap it in a Tomb of dough.

Then you bake it and wait till morning to find out what happened!

Conversation of the day!

I am am constantly having conversations with the girls that make me smile or laugh and I know I'll want to remember. I haven't added all of them because I figure they might not be as funny to others but since this blog is mostly to record things for the girls to look back on later I have decided to add them!

Today's conversation was with Evelyn. I was telling Craig about them spelling their names on the computer and I asked Evvy what letter her name started with. She immediately replied "Princess" Haha! Apparently she has taken that pet name a little to seriously :)

ABC's & Colors

As hard as I've tried I cannot get Aubrey to pay attention long enough to learn her ABC's or numbers. I know she is old enough that she can memorize them but she just isn't getting them. She knows a few important ones, like first letter of all of our names and can even draw an A but she just as no interest in flash cards and stuff that worked when she was 1-2. When I was at Sam's club the other day I decided to get them some ABC and Number Cd's since I don't really want them watching as much TV in the car. Within a few days she had learned the first quarter of her ABC's! After seeing that I realized she more of a hands on learner and I need to change up my teaching techniques. As we get ready for her entering Pre-school in the fall, we will be finding more ways to make learning fun and will be blogging about it. That will include anatomy because right now Aubrey LOVES learning about her body. Just last night we went over "brains, bones and bread" (lol when Aubrey says blood, it sounds like bread) She was co curious about how her heart pumped blood through her veins and how her lungs put air into her blood. I'm not the best at explaining stuff to kids but she seems to get it and really enjoys it.

As for Evvy, I feel I have felt down when I think about what I was teaching Aubrey at this age. She knows most of her body parts, and I think she knows her colors, though sometimes I think she just might be guessing, others she'll get one wrong that I know she knows. Either way I'll be including her in our learning!

Anyway today I opened up Word on our computer and typed a big A so Aubrey could find the matching one on the key board and opened a sticky note for her to type in. She found all of them now knows what a Y is! . Evvy found E.V.V and want to go play but I was surprised at just how fast she found them!

silly girls

These girls constantly crack me up! Tonight as we were lying in bed Aubrey asked me if boys get flowers. I told her usually boys buy flowers for girls and asked her if she wanted flowers. She decided she did and said she liked pink flowers. When we asked Evvy she said she wanted blue flowers AND m&ms :) then Aubrey told me "I hope boys don't have purple flowers cuz I only like pink flowers!" Oh my goodness! This girl is definitely getting a little demanding lately, looks like we've going to need to learn more about being grateful!

Little Trouble Maker :)

Evvy got in the powdered sugar, but even covered in sugar she's still so cute I couldn't be mad at her.
